Glensherraig

The main ferry to Arran runs from Ardrossan to Brodick around 5 times a day, rising to around 10 times a day in summer when the additional ferry is in place. The crossing takes 55 minutes. Advanced booking for a car is advised (essential in the main season).

A smaller ferry runs from Claonaig to Lochranza, taking 30 minutes.

From the Brodick ferry terminal turn right (north). Follow the road through Brodick village. Once past the Heritage Centre, the road bends sharply right. Turn left here, signposted Blackwaterfoot/String Road.  After 150 metres turn right (signposted Cart track to Glen Rosa). Drive past a driveway and track on the left, and Glensherraig is the first house on the left.  It has a red post box to the right of the front door.

If you arrive on the Lochranza ferry, turn left and follow the road through Lochranza and south for about 30-40 minutes. You will pass through beautiful wild areas, then close to the coast through Sannox and Corrie. After the Castle entrance, you are getting near. Look out for the signs a mile or two later, and turn right onto the string road towards Blackwaterfoot. Then continue as above.

Glensherraig House is a private luxury house with a cosy, cottage feel. The entire house can be let for a few days, weekly, monthly or longer lets during all seasons are available too.
